High-Performance Biophilic Workplace

550 Washington Street is 1.3 million sf new headquarters of Google in NYC, and it is the centerpiece of "Googleplex" master plan which will encompass total of 1.7 million sf across three separate structures. The project is located beside the Hudson River, the building was the terminus of the New York Central Railroad's West Side viaduct. The project restores the southern portion of the terminal and highlights its large-scale historical rail beds, transfers the building to be the base of a contemporary biophilic workplace new construction. Nine new floors rise above, prioritize occupant health and well-being through biophilic design. Boundaries between indoor and out are blurred here, planted terraces wrapping three floors (4th, 11th and 12th) create direct connections to nature and seasonal cycles, while provide panoramic views of the Hudson River and lower/mid Manhattan skylines.
